SpeakSharp privacy policy
SpeakSharp records your voice and reads what you say. None of it leaves your phone. This page says exactly what the app does with what it hears, and names the two things that can travel โ both of which are off, optional, or carry nothing about you.
Last updated 5 August 2026.
What stays on your phone
Your recordings, the transcripts made from them, your scores, the scripts you write and everything the app counts about your own usage are stored in the app's private storage on the device.
There is no account, no sign-in and no server holding any of it. It is not uploaded, not synchronized and not backed up anywhere by the app. Uninstalling removes all of it, and Settings can delete recordings or clear everything at any time.
What the developer can see
Nothing. There is no analytics service, no crash reporting and no telemetry of any kind. The usage counts shown on the app's own Usage screen are calculated on your phone, for you, and are never sent anywhere.
The two things that can leave the phone
The update check. Because the app can be installed directly rather than from a store, it can ask a static file on distrib.securitasmachina.org for a version number, at most once every six hours while the app is open. That request carries nothing about you โ no identifier, no recording, no usage โ and Settings turns it off, meaning no request is made at all. Copies installed from an app store do not include this at all.
Online voices, only if you switch them on. Rehearsing a conversation can have the app speak the other side aloud. It uses offline voices by default. If you turn on online voices in Settings, the line being spoken is sent by Android's own text-to-speech service to whichever voice provider you have chosen. Those lines are text you wrote. Your recordings and transcripts are never sent, under any setting.
Permissions, and why
Microphone โ to hear you speak, which is the whole point. Audio is processed on the device. Recordings are kept only where the app tells you they are being kept, and can be deleted from Settings.
Internet โ to download the offline speech model and, if you choose one, a language model for written coaching. Also used by the update check and by online voices, both described above.
Age
SpeakSharp is intended for ages 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13 and is not distributed through any children's program.
That does not change what is collected, because nothing is collected from anyone of any age. There is no account to create and no profile, and no recording or transcript leaves the phone โ so there is no younger user's data held anywhere either.
Changes, and getting in touch
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the app's release notes say what changed. Questions can go to the contact page.
