Daily practice for speaking clearly

The problem Most speaking advice is practice without measurement, so you repeat the same habits — trailing off, filling silence with "um", rushing until the words blur — without ever seeing them.

How SpeakSharp solves it SpeakSharp listens while you speak, measures your pace, pauses, filler words and clarity, adapts what counts as good to the person you are speaking to, and lets you rehearse your own words — including a two-sided conversation it takes a turn in.

About SpeakSharp

SpeakSharp is a fifteen-minute daily workout for two specific problems: losing your thread halfway through a sentence, and not being understood the first time. A short daily routine trains you to hold a thought using a fixed frame, to find the core of an idea before you start talking, to stop fully at every comma and period, and to hit your final consonants. Beyond the routine you can read a passage aloud and be scored on how faithfully you read it, rehearse a specific answer before a meeting, or write out a whole conversation — your lines and the other side's — and practice it turn by turn, with the app speaking the other side aloud in a voice you choose. It listens while you speak and measures what actually happened: your pace, how long your pauses really were, your filler words, your sentence length and your clarity. Then it tells you the one thing to fix next. Your voice and your transcripts never leave the phone, and every part of the practice works with no signal at all.

What you can do

  • Write your own scripts — a passage to read aloud, or a two-sided conversation — in one editor, marking who speaks each line. Every save is kept, so any earlier draft can be read and restored, and restoring adds a version rather than replacing one.
  • Rehearse a conversation turn by turn: you speak your lines and they are scored, and the app speaks the other side aloud in a voice you pick. It can even write alternate phrasings of its own lines, so the same conversation comes back in different words.
  • Read a printed passage aloud and be scored on how faithfully you read it, then play the recording back with each word highlighted as you hear yourself say it.
  • Scores adapt to your audience — a sales presentation, a colleague, a child, an adult child, a government official or a prospective home buyer each get their own targets for pace, sentence length, plain language and hedging.
  • Shows your silences as a timeline you can read at a glance, against a one-second reference, because holding a pause is the single biggest fix for being understood.
  • Ends each session by naming one thing to work on, and puts it in front of you at the start of the next. Tracks pace, pauses, filler words, sentence length and clarity over time, and shows which audience you are weakest with.
  • Your recordings and transcripts stay on the phone and are never uploaded or backed up, and the practice itself needs no signal at all.

Who it's for

Before a presentation

Rehearse a point until it comes out cleanly, at a pace people can follow.

Meetings and stand-ups

Practice naming your point in three words first, then expanding it.

Difficult conversations

Write out what you want to say and what you expect to hear back, then rehearse it turn by turn until it stops catching you out.

Being asked to repeat yourself

Train the final consonants and pauses that make you clear the first time.
